This region is most famed for its whale sharks which feed there during March to June. The reef is rich in coral and other marine life, including dolphins, dugongs, manta rays and humpback whales! We passed the morning snorkeling with manta rays, the largest species of the rays. These massive animals stretch up to 25 feet across and weight nearly 5,100 pounds!
I spent the afternoon scuba diving, stopping to observe reef sharks, octopus, giant sea turtles, and a variety of fish and coral! Later in the evening, as families and friends swam and played football on the sandy shore, I watched the beautiful orange sun slip below the horizon.
