A new friend and I jumped into a brightly painted mini-bus and took a day shuttle to Nimbin, a small free-thinking town splattered with colorful signs and murals. The atmosphere is tolerant and open-minded, promoting peace and love. The bus ride was gorgeous and we wound through mountain roads.

Byron Bay and Nimbin, Australia
Byron Bay is a backpacker haven! A beachside town located in the far-northeastern corner of the state of New South Wales, Byron Bay is a lazy town overflowing with travelers and earthy, free-spirited locals. The beach is popular by day, some venture into the waters with a surf or body board in hand. The quaint town entertains visitors with small boutique shops, funky local art galleries and jewelry, and casual coffee shops. Days are relaxed, but after the sun sets, backpackers take to the streets and hit up one of the many fun bars and clubs for eats and drinks!
