Dublin, Ireland

Autumn is in full swing in Dublin - the air is chilly, orange and yellow leaves litter the streets, and most are dressed in wool jackets, hats and scarves, tights and boots. Irish pubs line the streets, inviting everyone in to warm up with local brew and Irish Stew! The food is filling and potatoes come with nearly EVERY meal.

Jen and I spent an afternoon walking around Trinity College, appreciating the 14th Century architecture and even enjoying a pick-up game of field hockey from the student pavilion pub overlooking the campus and field. The campus was beautiful and the students were focused and friendly, most sitting on benches and the lawn enjoying the sunny afternoon with classmates.

Dublin is also famous for a few popular drinks enjoyed around the world - Guinness and Jameson. Jen and I toured the Guinness Factory and Jameson Distillery, learning about the unique processes that make these two beverages so famous. After a long day of touring and soaking up knowledge about ingredients, processes, and distribution, we enjoyed a fresh pint of Guinness on the top floor of the factory overlooking all of Dublin! The day was a bit foggy, but we enjoyed a beautiful view of the city!

In the evenings, the quaint pubs come to life. The atmosphere is casual and lively. Local musicians take the stage each night, every night of the week - contemporary music, traditional Irish jigs, and rising stars. Familiar and folk melodies pour out onto the streets and it's difficult not to sing and dance as you walk from one pub to the next!
