As the weekend approached, my good friend Sarah joined me for a few days of sunshine! Sarah is from Melbourne, however, we met in the beautiful Greek Islands last September and have kept in touch. We lounged around the beach all day with books in hand, enjoyed a gorgeous sunset from the park and finished our evening with delicious Mexican food at a street cafe.

Port Douglas, Australia
I spent a lazy few days in Port Douglas, a small seaside town located in the far northeast corner or Queensland! This town sits on the Coral Sea and boasts excellent beaches, a beautiful boat club and marina, quaint shops and boutiques, and delicious food. I passed my time wandering from the beach to the park and from the park back to the beach again, stopping for gelato on the way. Sunsets over the surrounding mountains were stunning. Sailboats and yachts raced into the marina as dusk approached, a dugong (sea cow) bobbing up and down in the dark waters. Nights were relaxing. Temperatures dropped and locals and tourists scurried to one of the several main pubs for live music and toad racing. I spent evenings on the beach with new hostel friends, sparkling wine in hand and a massive bonfire to keep us warm.
