Goodbye to the land of sausage rolls and meat pies, continuous drought and fire warnings, crisps and biscuits, sheilas and blokes, kangaroo and emu crossings, colorful money that doesn't rip no matter how hard you try, Australian Rule Football and Rugby League and Union, obnoxiously loud birds, nicknames for everyone and everything, amazing beaches and coastlines, venomous snakes and deadly spiders, BBQs with heaps of meat and salad, beer any time of day, beer any day of the week, Sunday Sessions, unique and diverse wildlife, hand-painted boomerangs, cuddly Koalas and Wallabies, Aboriginal art, Drop Bears - "Look Up, Stay Alive," the buzz of a didgeridoo, red dirt and rock, vast distance, road trips and camper vans, Fish and Chips and Chicken Parma, surfboards and boardies, Hungry Jacks (Burger King) and Mackers (McDonalds), Waltzing Matilda, locals walking barefoot in shopping centers and petrol stations, whale sharks and manta rays, a massive mining industry and the best cookies in the world - Tim Tams!
I entered this country sad to leave Asia and with very few expectations, but Australia absolutely blew me away! I embraced the laid-back vibe and generous hospitality, enjoyed the easy-going and friendly people, appreciated the unique wildlife and marine activity, and fell in love with the beautiful beaches and the vast and diverse land! The land down under has been an absolute adventure and I can't wait to visit again!
