We departed from the main highway and drove westward through the spectacular Kalbarri National Park. With a swarm of relentless flies landing on our lips and flying into our ears and noses, Tristan and I draped our heads with spare clothes and scrambled to several lookout points - spectacular red cliffs carved by the Murchison River, vast land rich with dessert vegetation, and the Murchison River gorge stretching some fifty miles! Absolutely stunning views of the rocky, red and green terrain.

Kalbarri National Park, Australia
We passed the next few days around Kalbarri. Although the swell was small, Tristan jumped on the opportunity to surf at a world-renowned surf spot, Jakes. I basked in the sun from ashore, a beautiful bluff visible just down the coast and the tide rising and falling to reveal dark red and brown coral.
