We made a few quick stops around town and learned about the city's history. Tristan and I first visited the old 1858 gaol (jail), the cells now housing crafts and local trades people. We paid tribute to the 645 men lost in battle off the coast of Geraldton at the HMAS Sydney II Memorial, a lovely tribute with a beautiful view of the harbor and city below. Before heading out of town, we marveled briefly at the exterior stonework and unique striped interior of the St Francis Xavier Catholic Cathedral.

Geraldton, Australia
We spent the next day beach-hopping as Tristan looked for a good spot to surf! Early afternoon set and we arrived in Geraldton, a city and port in Western Australia and an important center for mining, fishing, wheat and sheep!
